Australia and New Zealand needs a strong and well supported national association of neurologists. We live in a country characterised by great distances between populated regions, relatively small cities and a multi-cultural society. These provide us with challenges in practising neurology that can be met only by a vigorous collegiate body such as the ANZAN.
We have grown dramatically over the years and we are anxious to ensure that the high standard of clinical neurology practised in Australia and New Zealand is maintained. The collegiate benefits of getting to know one's distant colleagues as well as having access to their expertise as well as the expertise of international neurologists at our scientific meetings is of consider-able importance, especially to those who may have limited exposure to facilities in the larger cities.
ANZAN aims to ensure that high standards of clinical neurology are practised in Australia and New Zealand by playing an active role in training, continuing education and the encouragement of teaching and research.
